Q: I JUST JOINED, WHAT DO I DO NOW?A: Before you do anything else, make sure you read the rules. You will find a link to the rules on the main page. Within those rules you will find a password. Make sure to write it down, because you will need it for further reference.
Q: I FOUND THE PASSWORD, NOW WHAT?A: Great! You are on your way to roleplaying. Now take that password to the introduction board, and type it in the box that appears. If you found the right password, the introduction board will open up for you.
Q: THE INTRODUCTION BOARD? WHAT DO I DO HERE?A: This is where you will create your character's biography. In that board is a thread where you will find the application form. Just fill that out, and post it in the designated board.
Q: I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT HORSES! WHAT DO I DO?A: This isn't anything to be worried about. You'll learn and gain more experience through roleplaying. If you want to familiarize yourself with horse colors, parts, etc, check out this thread that our wonderful staff member
Demon posted for us.
Basic Horse Info.I Joined As A Stallion! Now What?
Q: WHERE DO I GO FIRST?A: Well, this really is up to you. Stallions may join a herd, or remain a loner. Remember, you can be force-claimed in The Meadow or if you enter a herd land.
Q: WHEN CAN I CLAIM MARES, AND WHAT ARE THE RULES?A: Stallions can start claiming and stealing mares only when they have a land of their own. Claiming is most often done in The Meadow, but really can be done anywhere. You can also steal a mare. Check out the rules in the steal board for more information.
Q: ANOTHER STALLION CHALLENGED ME!! NOW WHAT?A: All leads may be challenged for their land and mares. You may accept or decline the challenge, but if you decline, the mare or land is automatically taken by your challenger. Administrators will decide who wins based on experience and roleplaying skills. Challenges are played out in the Rouge Battle Grounds.
Q: WHAT THE HECK IS THE STEALING BOARD??A: All lead stallions may try to "steal" mares from the other stallions, seeing as though this is easier, quicker, and often more fun than fighting for them. A mare must be in a herd in order to be stolen. More in-depth rules are located in the stealing board.
Q: I'M A LEAD STALLION. CAN I KICK HORSES OUT OF MY HERD?A: Yes, by all means. Mares and stallions alike are allowed in these herds, and you may kick any horse out that you wish. The only exception are foals under 1. They can not be kicked out until they are weaned.
Q: IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY TIMES A STALLION MAY BREED DURING ONE BREEDING SEASON?A: No, stallions may breed as many mares as they wish during one breeding season. Force breeding is allowed. No graphic breeding, just fade to black. Breeding may occur anywhere, but you must post in Lands de Amour if you want a foal.
Q: IS A STALLION ALLOWED IN THE FOALING GROUNDS?A: No, the mare must undergo birth alone. Birth occurs in the foaling grounds. Please roleplay it out. If you don't post a birthing thread in the appropriate season, then your foal will die.
Q: WHO PLAYS THE FOAL?A: The foal may be played by either the mother or the father. All foals are born in Autumn, and then will turn one the following Spring, and age like all of the other horses. If neither parent wishes to play the foal, then it may be played by another member.
I Joined As A Mare! Now What?
Q: WHERE DO I GO FIRST?A: This depends. Do you want to reside in a herd, or maybe lead your own herd? Is there a certain herd you wish to join? Go to that land and ask for permission to join that herd. Remember, you can be force-claimed in The Meadow or by entering herd lands.
Q: ARE MARES ALLOWED TO LEAD A HERD AND CLAIM OTHER MARES?A: Yes! In the wild, mares are actually the ones that lead the herd to food, water, etc. They may also participate in stealing, fighting, etc.
Q: DO MARES HAVE FREE WILLS?A: For the most part, yes. But if a mare belongs to a herd, and is stolen by another lead, she is
required to go straight to that herd, which is then her new home. She may not leave until the lead allows her to. And remember: if your mare belongs to a herd and you would like to change herds, remember to talk to the lead first.
Q: WHAT IF MY LEAD GETS CHALLENGED?A: You can't do anything. You have no say so in the matter. If the other stallion or mare wins, they are now herd leader, and you have to follow them, unless you decide to leave. If you are lead mare in his herd, he may choose to keep you, or demote you.
Q: WHEN CAN MARES GET PREGNANT AND FOAL?A: Mares get pregnant in the Spring only. During this time, they may only be bred once. Once bred, your mare will foal in the following Autumn, two seasons later. If they fail to do so, the foal will die! (Unless you are away.) Your mare may not breed again until her current foal is one year old.
Q: WHO PLAYS THE FOAL?A: The foal may be played by either the mother or the father. All foals are born in Autumn, and then will turn one the following Spring, and age like all of the other horses. If neither parent wishes to play the foal, then it may be played by another member.
Q: CAN MY MARE ADOPT A FOAL??A: Yes, but your mare must be producing milk in order to care for this foal. What does this mean? It means that to adopt a foal, your mare has to either be pregnant or nursing already. In any other case, they wouldn't be able to care for the foal.
