warm breeze tickling over the meadow brought with it the damp, musky odor or rain. Far in the distance it was about to or had already started raining. The giddy sensation that often flooded through young horses when the scent reached them failed to course through her body. The thick, sound muscles that rippled beneath her white-flecked black body. The result of her flecking was a blue-steel roan. Her silver mane fell in slightly tangled lumps over her extended neck as she slowly, almost methodically, worked her way through the meadow enjoying the soft green grasses. A soft snort of impatience as a little butterfly lifted off a tender blade of grass and her head was up. The piercing gray eyes fitted beneath his silver-gray mane scanned out over the lands. Wherever she had ended up in her travels she like the place already.

mer had brought Maràe to yet another new land. For once, though, she felt as though the land loved her. It was as if she had finally slid evenly into her perfect place. Peace, a deep cooling serenity relaxing every inch of her being. She snorted softly, lifting a single white leg to step forward, delicately moving over the tall summer grasses. Evening hinted at the sky, highlighting the rainfall miles to the south. Her gray, gray eyes watched the heavens, her head stretching out horizontal with the ground. Shaggy, long mane bobbing and floating with her counter-balancing movements. Such was the way of summer evenings. The warmth from the sun retreating from the air as clouds over-took her casting a soft red over-shadow down to the earth. Her blue roan body took on a slightly purple tinge in the purest of locations on her body. Cicadas shh-shhhed in the background, gnats swirling annoyingly around her ears. Mae shook her mane, sighing softly. "What are you doing, girl. . ." her soft voice broke the sounds of nature, temporarily halting the cicada and cricket chorus. The insects, deciding she was not a threat, returned to their humming and buzzing. She snorted, pausing to drop her head and scratch her ears against an extended fore-leg. It was impossible to tell her breeding, being so nicely crossed as she was. The fact that both spanish and iberian bloodlines were present in her was easy to discern, everything else? Not so much. And so she continued forward, peacefully enjoying the quiet evening. Red and violet, old and pink painting the sky in vibrant brush-strokes. The strong hues stretching out over the rippling under-bellies of the misty clouds. She sighed softly, shaking herself out before staring up at the sky. Her body coming to a resting halt, right hoof tilted in the dirt and everything, next to a tiny creek rippling through the meadow. Here she would find home. The heat penetrated her pours, swelling beneath her skin. But she enjoyed it, basked comfortably beneath the heavy rays like some kind of cold-blooded reptile. Storing the new energy away and allowing a gentle expansion of her lungs. Mug raised momentarily to the heavens as if encouraging the tranquil landscape to possess her body, a satisfied groan slipped her lips as she continued on at a steady walk. It was not often the new queen wandered from the protection of her home. Though she had spent most of Spring keeping her screaming womb absent of desperate ears, and there was nothing more encouraging than a quiet stroll out in the open.
The area was vaguely familiar, and she had to remind herself that her family once belonged to Amorous Valley. She had distant memories of the rolling fields and lazy green forests, a subtle smile tweaking the corners of her lips as her mind strayed. The young mare missed her father and mother, but never allowed their death to interfere heavily with her life. She pondered momentarily over the location of her sister and brother, remembering the mysterious ways of Siran, and the lively nature of Illusion. Though as the blue mare had always managed to do, she dragged her focus back to that of the present; not prepared to dwell over what could have been, or allow her spirit’s to be anchored by poignant memories.
The small vixen was aware of the presence of another looming closer as she walked, but made no real efforts to seek or avoid her company. Though as the taller figure of the femora fell into view, the young queen was reminded of her new position and duties. With her new status came responsibilities, and if the blue mare before her was in need of a home, then the roaned lady would offer one to her. The attractive vixen stood peacefully by the stream, a hind leg cocked on the tip of a horn-hued hoof. Her colour was subtley similar to the mares herself, although the vixen before her sported a deeper hue of sapphire, ticked appealingly with delicate strands of silver.
Azure halted a few meters from the equine, naires expanding as she curiously surveyed the situation. Finding no direct evidence of threat, the nymph allowed a serene smile to flutter the corners of dark lips, gentle voice trailing from the caverns of her jaws, “Pleasant afternoon, isn’t it?” Azure had developed an apparent skill for small talk after she picked up on the discomfort oozing from her subjects; seemingly brought on by her tendency to stare. Disconnecting her tongue from her mind allowed her to ponder over things most would find insignificant, while still ensuring she wouldn’t alarm anybody with her silent, intent gaze. Dark tail flicked idly at her flanks, patiently awaiting a reaction from the equine before her.

soft greeting shattered the falling evening. The broken silence brought her body to a shuddering jolt. She turned her head, her gray eyes scanning for the owner of the soft voice. It wasn't fear that rolled through her, or really adrenaline. She wasn't sure what it was but through her it pumped. She smiled, her mouth pulling up in the corners just slightly. "Indeed it is." she nickered to the mare, swishing her silver tail. She shifted her hindquarters, pushing her weight to her off-side as she moved to accommodate the mare and better view her. They shared their color, in genetics alone. It was there that things stopped being similar. Where Mar was a silver-speckled blue roan with dark points and irregular white markings this stranger was a deep, singularly toned blue roan. Mae took in the dark-haired mare and felt herself warm up to her.

le she had been standing in her cicada and cricket tuned isolation her mind had wandered aimlessly fantasizing, if you could call it that, about what horses she might meet in these lands. Never did she picture another blue-hued horse, let alone a mare, would approach her first. When first she had heard the hoofbeats she had thought whoever it was was walking away or even around her. The lack of oomph to the sound had told her they sure weren't excited and while that had perked her young curiosity it had not been enough for her to leave her comfort zone and seek out whoever it was that was nearby. When the wind had brought to her a soft gust filled with the distant rain, moist dirt, grass and a mare she had thought nothing of it. After all mares were quite common to come across and it was a particularly gorgeous summer evening. Now here she stood with a feminine stranger of the same color greeting and instigating a mild conversation. She found herself reaching out for that offered conversation as greedily as a starving foal reached for his mothers teats. Soft sunlight winked in and out of focus. However long she had been standing there before the encounter it had not yet been long enough for afternoon to truly die. Twenty, thirty minutes then? She was uncertain. The warm light deepened slowly, the sun sinking ever closer to the horizon as the day wound down. "Maràe" she swished her tail in almost the same instant that the darker mare whisked hers. The realization that she had mirrored her new companion startled her and she hung her head ever so slightly as though embarrassed with herself. Snap out of it, mae. she thought with a harsh snort. "and who might you be?" she asked, her ears falling forward, listening intently for the impending reply. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
