The painted mare galloped through the desert. Years of running on the had given her a powerful body. Muscles rippled with each stride as her nares scented the air. Harks pricked forward, she slowed down into a walk as she came upon an area. A small hill of a rock, covered with sand stood out. Moving to stand upon the ledge, she flicked her tail.
Down below there were several pools of water. And even a cave or two to provide some shade. Xarkla knew this would be the main area where her growing herd would roam. Her goal was to provide a safe place for equines, stallions, mares, foals, bays, blacks, grays, dapples, young, old, or any type of horse. It would just take a bit to spread the word of Sandy Creek.

The dark bay gladiator still walked on with a limp from several days of past, the wound was protected by a layer of crusted shell to let it heal. It was definitely sensative, Castial had retrained himself from any major galloping as to help it heal. By now though he was pretty sure it wouldn't open up again if he tried, golly he felt old for thinking before doing reckless things. He was normally processed his actions before comensing with them but roughly five years ago he'd easily not think twice before doing something he'd most likely regret. Now he was starting to care for his health and ensuring he'd have a long life if it was ment to be.
Castial was just enjoying the day after scouting the territory in the early mornings, though not asked to by their lovely lead. He wanted to ensure the borders for Xarkla just out of payback for caring for him. It'd been a long time since another had worried of his welfare specially over a scratch from a fall, it touched him silly to see there was still kindness in the world. Perhaps that's why he had stayed and accepted her offer, or the older mare was such a beautiful sight to him it was captivating. He didn't know, but nothing was alarming about his decision, Sandy Creek felt welcoming and at home with nothing to truly worry about it.
Lowering his crown to the cool waters a small pool of waters for a drink, charcoal harks pricked at the sound of foot falls in the distance. Dark chocolate optics looked up to see he had accidentally trailed the lead mare herself, Xarkla. A warm smile crawled across his lips raising his visage as water droplets banished themselves from his chin. Stepping around the pools of water, he let out a soft nicker to the painted maiden as she took a high perch. The sight was beautiful to him seeing her higher above to look over what was hers, a part of him wished to join her side, but he knew it wasn't his place to take. "Good day Ma'am, How are you doing this fine day?" Though she was older than the shadow bay brute, she was in excellent shape looking far younger than what she was. Having prospered well in her life it seemed from what Castial could tell the mare held her pretty looks and figure very well. Or perhaps it was Cas just prefering the ladies that were older than he, they just seemed more interesting to get to know. A history of stories to tell and a far more intelligent conversation than a three or four year old filly or colt.

The paint glanced over as one of her herd members appeared. It was Castial. The stallion who had been filling her mind for the past few days. Everytime she saw him, she couldn't help but admire the ripple of his muscles. And the soft, chocolate orbs that made her heart flutter. Xarkla had thoughts of making him her mate. Though only meeting him a few days ago, she guessed it would be best to at least give him a season before she made her choice. She had 3 or 4 mates in her lifetime. Something had always happened to snatch them from her. Winchester, Morpheus, and Oepidus. All of them had been of her interest, before they vanished out of her life.
There was a small bump present on her stomach. She had bred with Castial. Whenever she was alone, she would nudge the bump with love. Xarkla loved foals. She had quite a few children within her ten years of MUSTANG. Whenever a foal needed a mother, she was there, giving it a new home. "I'm well. How are you?" She asked softly. It seemed her tone would take a softer undertone to it. One that only Castial would recieve.
The mare climbed down from her ledge. She figured she would use it when a herd meeting happened. The cave underneath would be her resting place while the other caves would be used for her herd members. As she strode towards the stallion, her harks flicked forward. Xarkla reached out her mug as she gently bumped noses as a nicker escaped her lips. "What do you think of this place?"

He laughed inwardly as he strolled along the waters of a creek, a creek that led to nowhere as far as he could tell. He laughed as he found himself looking upon what smelled like a claimed land, claimed by a lady. The scent was familiar, very familiar, however, it only snagged his memories that he left behind when he left the lands of MUSTANG. And then he happened upon two equines, a male and a lady. Concerto always liked finding himself with another paint and wondered at what it was that reminded him of something. He couldn't understand why but it didn't matter. He allowed his amber eyes to shift over the pair and he sneered his greeting. Hi. He wondered how he'd be received and if anything, if he would be kicked out at a new record.

Arizona galloped slowly over the deserted, western terrain. The spring sun blazed down without any mercy, just the way The champange liked it. The sun guranteed a wonderful summer and fall. And it made her happy. She stretched her limbs and flew over the desert sand towards a source of water and other equines she had scented. Her hazy blue eyes took in the scene. A dark, shadowy stallion, older by the looks of it. A younger paint stallion. And finally the one Arizona had traveled to see, an older paint mare who had claimed a place higher up, so she could see the lands she rightfully owned. Xarkla.
Ari had heard whispers among the lands of MUSTANG, two more mares had taken claims to lands. A young, inexperienced mare by the name of Kunama and an older mare whose name was Xarkla. Then there was a primed mare named Regenade Ari had heard of. Xarkla claimed the lands of Sandy Creek, a desert terrain Arizona was accostumed to. The sand, lizards, snakes, cactuses, and lack of water didn't bother her, it was the lack of equines she could agree with. Usually herds now consisted of ego maniac stallions, arrogent colts, and plain out rude mares and fillies. It seemed every young horse she ran into was consisted to arrogent. By comparing the little information she had on each lead, Arizona had decided on Xarkla. Intelligent, wise, and caring. That was three words Arizona had heard that implanted themselves in her mind about Xarkla from the rumors. Now she had to see if they were true.
Approaching the group, she kept an acceptable distance and let out a friendly nicker. "Hello, I'm looking for the Sandy Creek herd, led by Xarkla? I'm assuming you are Xarkla and this is Sandy Creek. I would like to be accepted into your herd, under any posited you deem fit." Arizona offered with a slight smile towards the aged mare.
ooc;; I'm playing this as if Arizona doesn't know Cas

Harks pricked as he watched her every move, "I am doing rather fine, leg should be fully healed soon." Ressuring his condition to her as she was the one to witness his almost fall of death. Yet he still walked with a slightly limp as he went to meet her as she decended from her thrown. For sure his optics took glance at her barely noticable more swollen abdomin, not his place to say anything but smile proudly to himself such a royal mare to carry a blend of their lineage inside her.
Castial took in attention to the tone of her lyrics, met the extension of her velvet nose to his returning it with a soft nicker of his own. " The land is as beautiful as the Maiden who owns it. I like the are alot actually, it's enough to live off of and not overly crowded. Any thoughts left of just passing through is gone, I am here to stay, help protect the land for you." Giving praise to her as well as being serious about the land and offering his services to help keep it safe for her. Castial was lost for a few moments of gazing into her dazzling hues, till sounds of another approached.
Harks flicking he stepped back to give his lead space, dial swiveling to look upon the newcomer, scanning the fellow brute over. Something of how this younger brute approach made Castial's chassis tense and ears flickered back, but keeping himself in check it wasn't his place to confront the boy. Though the stranger seemed to approach Xarkla as if they already knew of eachother in the past. Keeping his cool his attention was tugged away by the approach of a champagne maiden, older than he guessing by her aged body. But a to the point attitude of approaching the bay painted lead mare. Castial got to wondering if this would become a herd of the old to come and rest after years of trials and struggles. It was a comforting thought if that were to happen, it'd be a calm herd with no major worries just a place to be happy as years drug on.

Xarkla nodded as the information filled her brain. "Good." She murmured softly. At Castial's words she could feel her cheeks flush with heat. If she weren't an equine, she knew it would be obvious how much his words meant to her. "I'm glad to hear that." Her tone ended in a softer note, one hinting to a bit of flirtation. The paint flicked her tail in irritation as the stud moved away. Her chocolate orbs flickered to the new paint that stood by.
Time seemed to freeze as she narrowed her eyes at this young stallion. Already his attitude and the way he presented himself, pushed her away. "Winchester's son?" She asked. No greeting was given. If this was indeed her first mate's child, she remembered how he had pushed his father over into the canyon to get rid of him. That was a few years ago when she was still in Superb Beach. Xarkla had tried to look after him but being Saliga's mate, she had kept her distance. She had heard word of the buckskin passing away.
The pregnant paint refused to acknowledge how weary she was of the paint. Instead she glanced over to the new mare that came galloping in. "You are correct. And yes, as long as you can follow the rules. You'll be one of the herd mares. Make yourself comfortable." She gestured her skull to the pools and caves that they were currently by. Xarkla then turned towards the young stud once more. "Start anything, I'll chase you out." Her words were blunt. She remembered the colt clearly and wouldn't put up with his nonsense.

He was received just as he expected. Coldly and with a threat of disownment at the first chance given. He smirked, his face saying whatever The very one. he answered, arching his neck and flicking his harks as though he was proud of that title. Winchester's son
As it was, he was indeed proud of that title, the name Winchester known throughout the lands at one point in time or another. As it was, Xarkla had a skeleton or two he would've liked to pick with her, if only for the loving memory of his father. The lovely lady Xarkla, the first who broke his heart. To be sure, it was true she had once broken his heart and left him to rot while she carried another's foal. A worthless, blind and broken stallion's foal. Or so the stories told.
Concerto didn't know how to really receive any of these others..he merely just enjoyed being a major pain in the ass.

Arizona smiled pleasantly as the lead accepted her into the herd's hierarchy. "Thank you Xarkla, I promise to abide by the rules and help you any way possible." Arizona spoke softly with a gentle smile. Her azure eyes searched the colt and what she saw brought a chuckle to her throat. He was simply a little boy trying to act like stallion and he attempted this by having a huge ego. If he was staying, Xarkla would hopefully put him in his place. Hopefully he didn't have friends out there wishing to join as well, especially if they were to act like him. He was clearly familiar to the painted mare, her cool gaze told Arizona he wasn't appreciated either. "I hope you don't mind the intrusion, but who are you lad?" Arizona questioned Concerto directly. No beating around the bush. She was out to seek who this foolish boy was for troubling the lead of Sandy Creek.

It was such a natural reaction to this arogant prick of a colt, harks pinned flat against his skull and mahogany orbs set in at a dead glare. Front stilts trembled slightly as full instinct bellowed at this bay stallion to chase this young soul off these lands. Just something about the youthful stallion disrupted Castial reminding him to much of why he left his old lands to find MUSTANG. Currupted and ruthless with ill will seeping from their poors, these younger generations were getting more and more unbearble to be around. His bottom black lip was shaking from wanting to strike out and rip into the male paints flesh, ward him off from the lands and away from the mare that held his foal.
Yes protective instincts were already in full swing knowing what Xarkla held within her womb, their offspring yet to be born. No way was Castial going to let this mongrel interfear and possably be a liability to the unborn foals life and future. Xarkla's very reaction to reseaving this brute verified the bay gladiator of his ill feelings against the painted stallion. Both the colt's words and the one called Arizona's words brought him back to reality, breathing sharply after not realizing he had been holding his breath. Easing his posture noticing he'd taken a step closer to the painted lead mare, slightly shaking his head clear to nod his head to Arizona.
Still holding his tongue as both mares jabbed words against the young colt, one of warning and the other of questioning who he was. Though as Castial recalled the champagne hadn't mentioned her own name so did she have the right to ask the colt his? With a subtle shrug to himself, revising what the opposing male had said, broke his heart. Who's heart he wondered, he hoped Xarkla was not the mother of this youth not being able to imagen her allowing such rudeness from her own kin. This really intrigued the bay stag of what parts of Xarkla's past consisted of, should he be worried to let his feelings long for her or was this brute just trying to spread lies seating posion. No words left Castial's maw yet knowing nothing particularly nice would leave them now and not wanting to be rude infront of the ladies. Softly nudging Xarkla's shoulder, wanting to nussle her belly but didn't he quietly stepped away from the group to find a patch of green to nibble at close to one of the pools of water. A wary eye kept on the youngster that was present.

Xarkla's harks flickered. She knew stories of how the very brute before her had taken over the caverns and had been the very first leader. The Saints still stood and with any chance, Concerto could still be doing damage by helping them continue to grow stronger and larger in numbers. Before she could even let words flow from her lips, he spoke of a memory she had tried hard to forget. Brown pools flashed with pain before she allowed her face to become a mask of hidden feelings.
"I had a deeper love for Morpheus. Winchester and I were never meant to be." The painted mare than glanced to Arizona. Xarkla nodded at her. When Castial had taken a step closer, her head swiveled to the side as she watched him. Already she could see signs of the strong lead male he could make. If our destinies are meant to mix. She admired the lean ripple of muscle with each stride. And the brown orbs that told her he cared.
If it wasn't for the coat difference and the fact this male could see, he would of been an duplicate of her second mate Morpheus. The brute nudged her shoulder before stepping away and going to graze. Xarkla appreciated that he allowed her to deal with the situation herself. He was obviously still keeping an eye out, ready to chase Concerto away, but he showed respect for her by not taking control.
"He's a trouble maker." She answered to Arizona. "Leave, Concerto. I banish you from these lands. You were nothing but trouble since birth. I'll give you the dignity of leaving with your ego or I'll chase you out myself." Harks pinned back against her skull as she took a step forward.
