These lands bored her; she’d grown weary of them. The child that swelled her stomach didn’t help matters, only memories of a bad mistake. She hadn’t loved, or even known, the stallion who’d given it to her. She’d thought she’d feel less lonely with it, but she felt lonelier. She couldn’t stand to look it in the eye, when the time came. She’d leave it with its father and be done with it, Ellyana had planned this in advance. Life was easier when lived alone. Tiredly, the femme lay herself on her side and birthed her in the very lands she’d been birthed in herself. The colt was gorgeous, obviously possessing the brindled stripes of his father. She got up, trying to think of the first name that came to mind. Come, Oscar. Your father needs you. She told him flatly, only stopping long enough to clean him off and for him to get walking. Then they were off, headed toward Prismatic.
