The only figure who stared back was her, her blue-eyed visage blurred by the ripples of the oceanic puddle. Rain had fallen heavily overnight, leaving the dawn fresh and crisp against her blueberry painted skin. Last fall, she’d been complete. Her father had shown her there was a world outside of the airy-fairy aura of her mother, and in less than a year everything she’d had was entirely gone. Just like that. Dead, passed, disappeared out of the realm of MUSTANG. It didn’t matter where, it all just boiled down to the fact that Kai was alone. The closest thing she had to family was Leon, and she barely knew or cared to know him. Her family had failed her, and she wasn’t entirely sure what to do with herself.
That was a lie, in a way. She had a vague idea of what she wanted, to be powerful. Maybe if she was powerful enough, she wouldn’t hurt like she did now. Her heart hurt so much, she was sure she was going to die. It as a constant dull ache that would not be soothed. An empty chasm. Everything, nothing. Words could not describe the loss that the filly felt. She was an independent, intelligent creature, but she was also little more than a child. She just wanted to be wrapped up and cuddled and held, and someone to very convincingly tell her she was going to be okay. That things were going to be okay. They’d have to be a good liar, because Kai knew they wouldn’t. Things would never be the same again; she’d never be the same again. She felt so much older now, even if she was just a year and a half old. Her eyes were older.
With each growing day, she was growing bigger and stronger. The babe would never be so delicate as a hot blooded creature, but she didn’t need to be a scrawny easily breakable twiglet to be attractive. She was strong, built heavily from strong Lusitano lines from her mother. The only useful thing she gave her. The draft influence made her stronger, kept from being too bulky by her mother’s hot blooded influence. Indeed, she thought herself to be the perfect mix of her parent’s lineage. Her strong muscle easily contorted into a desirable Iberian taste, painted beautifully in black, white and blue. No doubt when she grew into curves within the next couple of months she would be beating males off with a stick.
She was starting to get past her father abandoning her, and now her mother’s death. She hadn’t cared for her, so she did not know why she mourned her passing. Maybe it was just a confirmation of what she’d already known, she was alone. She hadn’t been ready to be forced to think on her feet and save herself, being as young as she was, but she’d done quite well for herself. It seemed she’d have to continue to do it. She hadn’t been killed, or seen as useless toward the black king. Though really, she had a feeling it was more to do with her beautiful exterior than her sharp-witted thinker. She’d have to make him see it, she thought with determination. It helped her get out of her self-pitying reverie at least. Thank god.
Her cerulean eyes hardened, trying to pull herself together and stop her weakness. She couldn’t be so weak; she had to be strong on her own. There was no other choice for the essa. She couldn’t afford weakness, not with the lands and the herd that she’d elected to stay with. The fallen princess wasn’t going to lose it now, the world might have been shattered but that didn’t mean she had to. It had been a couple of days since she’d come across her thin, weak swollen-bellied mother’s corpse. She felt far too emotional, too out of control. She needed to ground herself. Kai had no excuse for being over-emotional. Her mother’s death was in the past. She had to move on, the past would only weigh her down. She just had to keep going and out-live them all.

Looking Glass
I’ll seek you out, Flay you alive, One more word and you won’t survive. And I’m not scared of your stolen power, I see right through you any hour...

[/i] .xXx. [/color]Looking Glass has always been a stallion whom has the frightening ability to manipulate and deceive the ones around him, be it for his own advantage, or an ulterior motive entirely. The brute, for as long as he can remember, was always able to catch hold of certain details about another, be it an obvious insecurity or a discreet fear, and find ways to use such information to his advantage, in turn creating a devastating result. With the takeover of the Caverns, Looking Glass was vitally aware of the fact he’d drastically changed the lives of a small, tight-knit group of horses, all of who had been within the herd during the times of the last lead, Faloan. They included, of course, the stallion’s immediate family; Nekane, Kai, and Leon. There were other equines, certainly, though those three seemed to be the most important, in order to get peace and agreement throughout the herd. Lean, it seemed, had sided with the ivory and charred stallion from the moment he’d stepped into the caverns, easily dropping his impregnated mother into Looking Glass’ vicious grasp. It was one less horse to worry about, and so, the stallion had gone to “persuade” Nekane to cease her defiance. It had taken force, as well as a miscarriage, but the draft hellion knew her breakdown was nearing. So, that equates to two horses, previously of Faolan’s family, that have shifted sides. The only one left, was Kai. The roan femora had intrigued Looking Glass to say the least, providing him with little information about her, or how she felt about the sudden, abrupt disappearance of her father. She’d seemed quite willing to listen to the new lead, in fact, and it did surprise the ebony stallion, though only to a certain degree. He figured either she was entirely happy rolling with the punches, and making the best of what was inevitable, or the mare was far, far more intelligent than he had originally imagined. She was a young little thing, just approaching the age of two, though she had a certain composure that lacked within most of those her age. Not only did Kai hold a clear, thought-provoking maturity that had captured Looking Glass’ attention, but she sure as hell had the looks to catch his eye. The stallion had always had an interest towards the younger mares, as the thought of ripping away their innocence so blindly, through one act of absolute lust, was captivating. Thrilling. After all, innocence can only be taken once. With the thought, a sick little smirk slithered upon the male’s pale mug, his cerulean orbs darkening; churning with the endless, reeling thoughts of possibility. He would need to speak to the younger mare to be entirely sure, though Looking Glass had, thus far, formulated what he considered to be the remnants of a plan. Knowing she was young, and that she’d been ripped so violently away from the ones that gave her purpose, affection, and structure, the brute was quite aware of the fact that this, in turn, would probably mean that Kai was longing such, lacked things, and would do anything to get them back. The plan? Looking Glass would be all of what Kai needed, be it one to comfort her, show her affection, and turn her blindly against her father, with the help of a single, untold secret. He also figured that dangling power right before her eyes might help coax her, as well. It wasn’t often in which Looking Glass patrolled about his lands during the beginnings of dawn, though on this particular day, he was on a mission. A mission to find Kai, and turn her world entirely upside down. It was cooler, a brisk Autumn breeze nipping lightly at the male’s marred pelt as he made his way through the lands, head lowered into alignment with his withers, ears perked and forward, eager to drink in the sounds around him. It didn’t take him long, to come across the distant outline of a mare of her proportions, and, as the stallion neared, he jerked his head up to eye her, a discreetly interested smirk playing upon his lips. The brute let out no more of a warning than a harsh snort, before quickening his approach, and pulling his pillars into a collected trot until he was but a few feet away from the delicious little girl. “Kai,”;' he greeted far too easily, his tone not inviting, nor warm, as his eyes captured and firmly held her own, his hidden, devious intentions barely shining through his delicately constructed mask. “I’m quite glad I caught sight of you. There are things we must speak about.” Looking Glass continued, taking a moment to let his eyes race across her smaller frame, a very sudden, male hunger beginning to eat away at his rationality. He would control himself however, for now, as it was important. I’m taking it slow, Feeding my flame, Shuffling the cards of your game. And just in time, In the right place, Suddenly I will play my ace...

Other than that, she didn’t know, she didn’t care. Or did she? With the ground having moved beneath her feet, the young female wasn’t sure where she stood or what she stood upon. Or who she was, or where she was going, or any other important questions. All that she knew was that she had to keep moving regardless of the cost. If she stopped now, she’d fall behind. She’d be forgotten, and she couldn’t risk being forgotten again. She couldn’t live her life curled up and small, pining for warmth and comfort. For love. While she might not have been directly aware of it, fall had almost ended. She was sprinting toward two years of age and she wasn’t ready for it, she’d stop being a child and become an adolescent. Less excuse for mistakes. She’d battle against hormones and mixed moods, being even more at odds with herself than she was now. Sometimes, Kai forgot that she was a child, a baby. Little more, really. Only trauma and abandonment had aged her, made her older than she should have been. She’d come into her own and find out just who she was before she was three, she was aware, but she needed to know now. How could she move if she didn’t know which chess piece she was? She rather hoped for a queen. She’d already worked out that she wasn’t exactly ‘good’. Good people did not betray friends to give them over to known perverts, did not mislead and wrap boys around their little fingers. Or they weren’t caught at least. What did this mean for her morality? Was this the beginnings of her being a sociopath? She couldn’t tell, all she knew was that nice would not be a word to describe her. She would not be nice. Nice people got hurt by bad people, it was a well-known fact. Kai couldn’t be hurt again. She was a liar, a betrayer, a mistress of lies and would surely become quite the seductress. There were many things that Kai would become, but weak and nice would not be them. Nosiree. Though Kai wasn’t sure she was evil either, or didn’t want to know if she was. All she knew was that she had fewer rules than those her age did. Survival was number one, her survival. She was loyal, to an extent. The last time Kai had put all of her faith into another’s hands, she’d had her heart crushed and torn to pieces. Daddy. Her mind slid back to him, it still hurt. It was still an open wound in her chest, having ripped back her ribs to reveal her heart vulnerable and sore beneath. She could see it clear as day, but the wound was too deep to be seen on the outside. Outside wounds either killed you, or they healed. Inner wounds could stay open and raw forever, and not kill you. They were crueller that way. He’d approached her by now, and the girl turned to face her approacher. He was as tall and thickly built as she remembered him to be, taller than her father but they were both drafts. To an extent, so was she. Just a little more delicate than the muscle before her. He was more than powerful enough to crush her, should he so wish it. What a good thing that she’d presented him three presents thus far, and seemed to please his eyes enough to not make it worth his while. That was the plan for now, stay useful. Those who weren’t useful could be disposed of, or that was how Kai would have run her ship should she have one. For now she was in the paddling pool, learning how to stay afloat. Though maybe she was in the big kids’ pool anyway, since she had no-one to protect her and she was trying to work out how to stop herself being of lowly rank. Yes, she was sure she was in the deep end without arm bands. Here was hoping she knew how to swim. The child met the adult’s gaze with old, neutral eyes. The blue orbs didn’t find themselves able to pull themselves away, though she wasn’t going to regardless. She was a big girl now; if she couldn’t look her leader in the eye then she couldn’t hope to impress him enough to persuade him to give her a position or two. His words weren’t welcoming, but she hadn’t expected him to gush over her. To greet his little princess and show her affection. She wasn’t a princess anymore, she wasn’t the favourite anymore. She was just another herd member. She’d certainly come down a rung or two. She’d have to climb up seven or eight to make up for it. Looking Glass, she acknowledged with a respectful dipping of her lovely face. Then fire away, I’m all ears. The girl retorted, her words neutral and short. She didn’t trust her voice to give things away if she wasn’t controlling it greatly. Though perhaps that gave away even more.
Ooc;; Sleeeepy. BUT I HAS A POST. Now I’m off to bed.

Looking Glass
I’ll seek you out, Flay you alive, One more word and you won’t survive. And I’m not scared of your stolen power, I see right through you any hour...
.xXx. From the moment he laid eyes on her, his own, cerulean orbs catching and steadily holding her own, Looking Glass knew Kai was not one to be forgotten, anytime soon. It may have come across startling to most, the maturity and experience in which such eyes held, despite their young beholder, and though there was a part in the mighty brute that told him to tread carefully, Looking Glass knew better. Never before had he trusted the careful, cautious side of his diminishing logic, and there was no chance of him miraculously starting to do so, now. There was no point to do such things; all being cautious did was turn warriors into snivelling, pathetic little fools with little deserving of life.
Looking Glass was surely no coward, and he was certain that fact would never change.
The male came to a slow halt once he was a fair distance from the considerably younger filly, his eyes still refusing to part from her own as he greeted her, despite his stolen glance towards her flawless, delicious little frame. Perhaps controlling himself would be harder than he’d originally planned. With age, her beauty would only increase; if anything, that was all Looking Glass would have to be cautious of. He would never deny the fact that he was defenceless against a woman who knew what she was doing; after all, he was masculine. Sex is one of a male’s main purposes of life, is it not?
Sex, and war.
A devilish little smirk slipped across the male’s mug with the thought; oh, how he took advantage of such things.
“Looking Glass,” Her lyrics were coated with a thick layer of respect, and as the mare tipped her head, Looking Glass returned the motion, though only to a hardly recognizable affect. The charred stallion would never perform such an action towards that of the male gender, however Kai was precious; young, untouched, and entirely vulnerable. He would sacrifice a moment of dominance, if it would make her relax into herself when around him. Looking Glass wished to know everything that went on within the confines of her intricate mind, and there was no chance of such things happening, should she feel uncomfortable when in his presence. His solution?
He would tear her apart. Discreetly, of course.
“Then fire away, I’m all ears.” Her words were short and clipped, so much so in fact, that Looking Glass took note of it. Was, perhaps, the little mare untrusting of her own voice? Was she so, extremely conflicting, she couldn’t let herself fall into a content frame of mind? The male paused, watching her with a rather calculating, judgemental expression, before heaving a sigh, majority of his harshness dispersing with the movement. He intended to inform the female about the disloyalties of her father; he couldn’t be too harsh about it, now could he? “It’s regarding your father,” The stallion spoke somewhat carefully, however his voice was lacking all hesitancy, unlike that of a good-hearted, kind soul. Looking Glass had, not only informed, but been the cause of upsetting news the majority of his life; telling those of hardships was no new, daunting task to him. She would be hurt, yes, and he would pretend to be considerate—but that was as far as it went. “Before I challenged him for the title of these lands, he and I were to make a deal,” The male continued, pausing between statements in order to observe the female’s reaction with the utmost avidness.
“It was agreed that I was to be his outside soldier, in return for you.” Looking Glass spoke his last statement somewhat slowly in an act of false understanding, though in reality, he only hoped it would make the wound deeper. If he could get Kai to a place of complete, utter hatred and angst towards her father, as well as all family members of her past, that would please him to a nearly unfathomable amount. After he’d finished, his shocking words lingering in the silence between the two, the hellion was sure to lower his head, in order to brush his maw against the immature curve of Kai’s shoulder. It was barely a comfort, Looking Glass knew this; however, the stallion rarely touched anyone, despite his average, daily biting or nipping of those who were out of line. It seemed harmless, the little brush of his mug against her roaned pelt, but the heat caused sensation to spread throughout his muzzle, before the male reluctantly pulled away. That action, that little cue, was his way of saying one thing; he was there for her.
Even if he was only pretending.
I’m taking it slow, Feeding my flame, Shuffling the cards of your game. And just in time, In the right place, Suddenly I will play my ace...

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i44.tinypic.com/28m1e84.png] The longer that the femme was alive, the less that she found herself able to trust others and the less others were able to trust her. She’d met a filly she’d quite liked, one who could have been her best friend. What had she done with her? She’d smiled and led her home, to give as a present to the lead of the Saints. It was immoral and cruel, heartless really. She felt a little guilty that she didn’t feel guilty, but not enough that she would change her ways. If she changed her behaviour, she might not survive. She needed to survive.
Her ears perked forward as he mentioned her father, listening intently to see what card Looking Glass would now play. He couldn’t be trusted, but he was the closest thing to a friend that she had. Wasn’t that a sorry state of affairs? Any chance for friendship and love had been thrown away for power and personal gain. During the times that she felt most vulnerable, she regretted the slacking of her morals. These times were few and far between, the filly knowing that ultimately she was doing what she had to to survive. Life wasn’t always about being the biggest hero that you could be, sometimes it was just about trying to get by. The essa wasn’t quite so bothered about being an occasional villain as she should have been, but considering her background and the herd that she’d grown up around this wasn’t quite so surprising. She was what she was, a practical, manipulative thinker with ambition.
The phrase ‘sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me’ was a wonderful one told by mothers to weak younglings preyed on by cruel bullies. Unfortunately, it was very, very wrong. If his words were a knife, they’d have stabbed her. If they’d been a rock, they’d have crushed her. Yet they were intangible, and all they did was take her heart, rip it out of her chest and crush it. All they did was pull the air from her lungs as she struggled to breathe through the thick betrayal in the air.
Had she meant so little? Was that all she was? A bargaining chip for her father’s games. What happened to being his princess? His favourite, his beloved, the one that he held in the highest regard and closest to his heart. Lies, lies, lies! He’d shown support and kindness to her face, and behind her back had been offering her up to the first pervert he could find. Exchanging his favourite child for a little help on the side. It was devastating and devious. The little girl was silent for a few moments, her blue eyes betraying her broken heart. No doubt he’d savoured each sip of betrayal and gallon of hurt. It was the only reason that he’d told her, surely. The news was devastating and it took her a couple of moments to reel in emotion and get herself together. A certain tightness remained around her eyes as she waited for him to do something, say something. She didn’t quite expect him to reach out and touch her though.
The blueberry roan paint remained still and tense for a moment, before relaxing. It was likely the most affection she was going to receive from him, she might as well enjoy it. She pulled her head up high, forcing herself to be proud and defiant. Even if really she just wanted to find a corner and cry in it. Yeah, that sounded great right about now. Kai was two now and she’d been grown up for a while. She understood all too well that Looking Glass of all horses was not someone to weep around and seek comfort from. He’d told her for a purpose, but what was it.
Those analytical baby blues of hers turned to him, trying to pick up whatever clues that she could from Looking Glass as to his presence, his revelation and his desires. And now, here you stand with both my father’s land and myself. Haven’t you done well for yourself. Her words were dry, sarcastic. She didn’t feel they were too disrespectful however, pissing him off just seemed to be a bad idea. Especially since she wanted power, and he was a power giver.
She hoped that, now she was beginning to look more and more like a fully fledged mare, that he might listen to her. Or be so transfixed on how she looked that he’d give her anything for a taste. Either way worked. He was smart for a male, but men could only go so far before they were brought down by their urges. Of course, she paused for a moment to think on her words. The more important question would be about what you planned to do with me now. You’ve left me in limbo since the meeting all those months ago, and slavery grows tiresome. I’ve completed missions for you, surely that warrants something more. She finished a little cautiously, though her eyes remained intently on him. Searching for any sort of reaction.
