Aconite had heard Regenade had claimed the land. The six year old stallion flicked his tail over his rump as he stood within the trees of his once former land. The chestnut sabino had no intention on taking it back. Not when Annabelle and their child were lost. Especially when he knew a good mare like Regenade would be here to watch over it and protect the weak and innocent. A cool breeze blew past, probably blowing his scent as he closed his chocolate orbs in thought.
A call escaped his throat. It wasn't loud but if the new lead was in range she would be sure to hear it. Con decided he would congratulate her and show how much he was proud. He had recently moved to Prismatic Creek to recover from the few experiences he had witnessed. Losing his mate and their child was hard on him, nothing else had hit him so hard. Not the loss of some of his mares, herd, fights, or anything. He had loved Annabelle and in a quick snap she was gone.
Sighing, he leaned his eighteen hand frame up against the trunk of one of the trees as one hoof was cocked in a relaxed position. Perhaps it would be a while before anyone noticed his presence here.
OOC: Wonder how Regenade will react to seeing him? lol xD

She knew his scent anywhere, glancing up quite sharply when the smell of him reached her sensitive nose. She grinned, with a small nicker toward Riya to merely communicate that she would be back. Her offspring smiled softly, trusting her mother to return soon. She was old enough to be left on her own, though there was a strong bond between the two. Riya was her reminder of Aconite for one, the beautiful thing that they had made together. Though she was also her daughter and she loved her for that reason most of all. Her sweetness, her kindness, her goodness. There was nothing to dislike about her daughter, in her mind at least. She listened to the call and was reminded of what she was supposed to be doing. Yet she knew she would be safe grazing while she went to visit someone that she missed much more than she wanted to admit. She came to approach him, giving a small, greeting whinny. It feels so long since I have seen you last. She told him honestly, wanting greatly to reach out and touch him with her muzzle. Just to remind herself what it felt like to be close to him. To what do I owe this pleasure? She asked gently.

At her words, a small smile appeared on his lips. "Being stuck with me." He replied softly as his frame leaned against the willow tree that grew inside the swamp. He had crossed it a while ago. Water stained his front legs as it covered up the scars that streaked down his limbs. Aconite lashed his tail as his harks flicked into a relaxed position. "So how do you like the status of Queen?" He asked as he tilted his skull in curiousity. "And...where is your beautiful child?" His brown orbs glanced over to Regenade's stomach to confirm that she had indeed given birth. He clearly remembered the baby bump she had the last time he had seen her. Before he had lost Annabelle. It seemed as if his mind was carefree at the moment. Only when he was talking to this mare. OOC: eww...suckish

Selfishly, and perhaps a little foolishly. Though you have returned, so maybe I was correct all along. I like the role well enough. I get to use my mind and think things through, and I think it’s a good example to set. She replied, knowing that she was not power-hungry and she would not bring about destruction. When she wasn’t with child, she’d even fight for her position. Our beautiful little child is probably off with her new friend, or she is grazing. She is in no danger either way. She replied to him gently. How do you feel now? Are things easier? She asked softly, her face filled with concern.

"Well I think you make a wonderful Queen." Aconite smiled. A chuckle slipped past his lips as he leaned out his skull and nibbled on the sensitive flesh on the inside of her ear. His lips traveled down the curve of her cheek. As he traveled along her curves he moved a bit to press his chest against her shoulder. Con seemed to be lost in a bit of thought as he continued, easing along the dip between her shoulders to end at the dock of her tail.
When he reached that area the stallion stopped short. Clearing his throat to excuse himself, he took a few steps back as a 'sorry' echoed out into the air. Shaking his skull he tried to get back focused on the conversation. He hadn't meant to do that but Con always knew he had something for this particular mare. It hadn't been strong enough when Annabelle was around to draw him towards her but with the bay away perhaps there was a chance for something more.
The chestnut sabino smiled at the thought of their beautiful daughter. She must surely be something. He was hoping he would get the chance to meet her soon. He would be sure that this filly would have a father figure in her life. He would be there and protect her. Especially since he couldn't do that for the child he had with Annabelle. "Everything's alright. I've settled in Prismatic Creek as Aden has taken me in. But now that Alaric has taken over, I left the creek. I admit I'm a bit lonely but I'm getting use to it. I hope you won't mind my visits here? If you're unhappy with them just let me know." His gaze was soft as he spoke. "Perhaps I might even consider joining my old home?"

Regenade was aware that she was by no means perfect, it irked her endlessly. She could be incredibly fierce and aggressive at times, protective in the extreme. Having a child, with another on the way, meant that she’d become even more protective. Others (namely Alaric) may have thought she was weak and that no females could be in charge, but she vehemently disagreed! She was far, far more protective of that which was hers than they were, instead of being possessive like stallions seemed to be. They were also unable to tell the difference. She loved that which was hers, instead of seeking only to own it. She loved and cared for each and every member of her herd. Each herd member was unique to her, almost like another child. They were more than just a number. They were all creatures who had come to her, searching and seeking for a home and a protector. She offered it to them gladly, even the crazier ones. Regenade had agreed to look after them, and the fact that they all seemed to be yearlings made them feel even more like they were her own children. She had a motherly urge to protect them and that was not something prevalent in stallions. It was just a gender difference thing, she supposed, with their brains being more systematic while hers was more empathetic. She felt for every one of her herd members and it hurt all the more when they were stolen from her by spineless, sneaky bastards. Riya.Just thinking of that sweet little child, her sweet little child, not being around to be nuzzled and adored by her. She’d been there when she had nothing else, and when she’d been abandoned by Aconite. It hurt and angered her that she had been stolen from her! Her audits flickered back slightly but she was quickly soothed by the affectionate nibble from the stallion that she held closest to her heart. Her dark eyes closed, her face soft and relaxed as she felt his lips move over her face, neck and spine. She let out a little snort of amusement as he came back to himself and apologised for his actions. ”There is no need for you to apologise, Aconite. I have longed for that a little too long perhaps.” She murmured the latter part mostly to herself. She wasn’t sure she’d have been so open with her feelings, her love, for him if she didn’t feel that their time was short. She knew that Annabelle was back and she knew that he needed to know how she felt- even if he broke her heart. Just so things might go her way this time. Nothing would happen if nothing was wrong. Regenade disliked the space that he’d put between them and she turned toward him to close the difference. She reached up to nibble ever so gently on his tresses. The loneliness gets easier with time, my Riya save me I think. Especially when you disappeared off of the face of MUSTANG. Her words were still tender, and soothing. I heard of the sad passing of Aden. It is a shame, especially when considering his replacement. The cold-hearted stag who has taken our baby from us. Her voice cracked slightly, for perhaps the first time in her life. The strong mare was unable to hold herself together for much longer. She rested her head gently against his thick, strong neck. She needed some reassurance from her love. And now that your mate has returned, I know that I shall soon lose you as well. If you go with Annabelle, I ask that you do not return. My heart will be broken enough without a reminder every time that I see you. She told him, pulling away from him suddenly and turning away. She was breaking down too much, she needed to be strong. She had to be strong, it wasn’t optional. She was a lead now; she couldn’t lose it every time the world seemed to be getting dark. Or else she might always be losing it. It seemed to be that she could come to expect a lot of problems for Alaric and no doubt the new Saints leader, Looking Glass, and even the Bachelor’s herd. The Bachelors had already tried it, but she’d chased them off with ease. Mare-haters were likely harbouring some sort of latent homosexual tendency and Regenade was happy to leave that group to copulate with each other instead. No wise mare was going to go near them anyway. She’d fight them if she had to, she’d rip the flesh from their bones if the scoundrels dared to try again. She’d lose her daughter once, but she would not lose anyone else again. Aconite could see she was happy with the attention she had received for a few, short minutes. As she nibbled on the strands of his mane and leaned on his thick neck, he sighed softly. His brown orbs grew dark at the thought of Aden. "Yes. He was one of my true friends. His passing will be remembered here in the Fen. You should honor him." The chestnut sabino rested his skull on Regenade's shoulders before she slipped away from him. "Hold on." He whispered softly as his tail flicked his flanks. "I'm not even sure if I'm going back to Annabelle. I've learned to love the both of you and perhaps it's not my choice. Who's to say she still wants me?" The question hung in the silence as Regenade was turned away from him. He glanced at the Queen's stomach, already knowing another one of his foals were growing inside of her. Did Annabelle even still have their child? Were they both okay? He didn't know and all the waiting annoyed him but he would have to wait for the bay to find him first. It would be no use looking for her if she hadn't come back for him. Sighing softly, he focused back on Regenade as he stood there. What would she think of this mess?

It gave Aconite a couple of seconds’ warning that the shit was about to hit the fan. Rather hard. Oh, I should, should I? The Queen now turned to him, the painted beauty obviously not impressed one bit with what he had said. There was a look on her face that likely Aconite would have seen from his mother. It was a look that said ‘boy, you’re in trouble’ and foretold of a good scolding. Even if she loved him, or perhaps because she did. If he didn’t see her as someone to treat respectfully and not order around, she may as well have kicked him out then and there. They wouldn’t work that way. If he didn’t do it, then why would anyone else? He would be an example either way. Yet here he was, once again forgetting his place. Not any longer. Her anger seemed to radiate around the femme, like an furious blistering wind. It made her calm words seem just that little bit more intimidating. Aconite. I let this slide before at the herd meeting, but I will let it slide no longer. These are my lands, and I am Queen. So either treat me as such and watch your words, or leave. Your words sound like orders to me, don’t make it a habit. Her words were positively clipped, forcing her anger down. It seemed that once Aconite had begun digging himself a hole, he just couldn’t stop. It was almost like he was a dog. Just dig, dig, digging. If you still love Annabelle, then go seek out her company and be with her. It’s obvious she’s your first choice, I will not be your alternative if she does not take you back. I am either your first choice, or I am nothing. One or the other, she told him coldly. Irritation was filled within his voice. Her ears pinned further against her head, snapping at the air in anger. It was that or his skin. One way or the other. The temptation to bite him was just too great but she figured it was part of the blues that she felt after having a foal. This was her second, and she was better prepared, but she was still over-emotional and she felt very vulnerable. It was no easy thing to know that you were second in the eyes of the one you loved and held so dear. Especially when you were a queen and by rights should have been held in the highest of regards. She’d thought that she’d fallen for a good one, someone kind and loving. She now began to wonder if he respected her as much as she should have. He was too informal with her when suggesting what she might do with her lands, with the Fen. She’d have gladly honoured the great lead Ade, but it was not his decision to make. He might have once been king here, but no longer. He’d lost these lands. They were hers. She may have loved him, but she wouldn’t stand for this all the same. To keep her rank, she’d be firm when she had to be. Now was one such time. The moment her harks pinned back, he took a step back. Aconite allowed the mare to unleash all her words upon him. He didn't own the lands anymore. He wasn't in the position to interrupt her. Once she finished, he allowed a few moments silence to gather his thoughts and avoid a mess up. "I'm sorry Regenade." He breath out. He stretched out his mug in a kind gesture to try and calm down the much smaller Queen. "Forgive me. I didn't mean for my words to sound like orders. I will never order you around. I wasn't raised to be dominant because of my gender."
The chestnut sabino nickered softly as he kept his distance. His voice was soft and he lowered his skull a bit to seem less like a threat. "No. I didn't mean to make it sound like you are my second choice. To be honest, I had feelings and great respect for you when we first met. I just guessed you didn't feel the same. I went with Annabelle as I didn't wish to try and force you into anything." Glancing to his right he noticed a stray flower growing from the swamp water. Lowering his skull, he carefully nipped it from the ground before placing it in Regenade's mane, tucked in right in the crook of her ear. "Now you look like the beautiful Queen I look forward to seeing each and every day." His words were gentle as he gazed at her with soft chocolate orbs. "I've realized these past few days that my place is rightfully along her side, helping you with the herd and our children and being there for you."
His orbs now traveled to the pink flower within her mane. White flooded from the center and turned into a lush pink as it reached the edges of the petals.

She just couldn’t stay mad at him anymore, she’d held the grudge for a few days and it had just seemed so childish. She didn’t want to destroy what could be wondrous and special. This was her mate, the love of her life. Her lover. Or she wanted him to be, and felt that he wanted the same. Her muzzle reached out to gently touch against his, moving a little closer to him. She’d spent far too long away from him as it was. ”Perhaps I am merely too sensitive, considering the lack of faith that some others seem to have in me.” She said at last, sighing slightly. It was true, many lacked faith in the painted queen’s kindness and logical reasoning. As if her ability to think was impacted by her gender, though in fact it only showed that they were close minded and stupid. Like her father and her brother before her, Regenade ruled a land. It was in her blood to rule, and as Aconite had also ruled it meant that without a doubt that either Aegonite or Riya would be a ruler. She could hope for both, but it was up to them and their natures as to whether they would rule. Hopefully they would be fair and would not abuse their power, but Regenade would be too old to truly stop them by the time that this happened. She could only hope the best for her children. ”How could you think for a moment that I felt nothing for you?” She asked with a slight shake of her head, uncertain as to why he was moving away until she saw him pick up the flower and place it in her mane. Her eyes softened further and she smiled, moving to be closer to Aconite. She nibbled his mane softly, touched deeply by his words. She didn’t know what to say in return, only resting against him. ”And it won’t bother you, being second when you once ruled these lands?” She asked curiously, picking things apart perhaps a little too soon. Things just seemed to be too good to be true. [WORDS: 365] [MUSE: Alright] [NOTES: Broken keyboards are so annoying. D:] SPEECH= 0a2a2a
